SHAVING IN SUMMER

We know that many of you have decided to maintain a long beard in Summer, even though the temperature has reached 30 degrees and over. Other knows the annoying sensation that a long beard can cause in hot months.

You have to make a decision, to shave or not to shave? This is the question!

If you want to shave, here’s 10 tips for a perfect shave in hot months:

1 DECIDE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Avoid to expose you to sunlights with the beard if you have decided to cut it, the skin that was hidden from the beard will be clearer than the rest of the body. If you have decided to shave it do it now!

2 PREPARE A COLD TOWEL

You’ll need this procedure at the end of the shave. Get a towel, get it wet, and put it into the fridge for half an hour. The bravers can put it into the freezer!

3 SHORTEN IT BEFORE TO SHAVE

Before shaving your beard you can save a lot of time shorten it with a trimmer, creating less job for the razor.

4 MAKE A HOT SHOWER

We know that it’s hot outside, but the hot water is perfect to prepare the skin for the shaving: it will soften the hair and relax the skin favouring the fluidity of the razor and avoiding annoing accidents.

5 PREPARE IT TO THE SHAVING

After those months, your beard will be particularly resistent: before shaving hydrate and soften it with an oil.

6 WHIPS THE CREAM

Whips the shaving cream with the brush, using the right amount of water. The perfect foam doesn’t exist , you have to test it and understand which is the perfect consistency. Remember that the beard is mainly a matter of sensations.

7 TAKE IT EASY

After a long time without shaving, the skin may be particularly delicate. Take your time, take it easy and above all don’t exaggerate with the shaving against the grain because you can risk to irritate the skin.

8 COOL THE BEANS

It’s time for a cold towel, like in a barbershop! Set it down gently on the shaved skin, it will immediately calm the sensation of heat and will soothe the skin. Don’t forget, after the towel, to use a soothing balm for a long lasting relief sensation. If you are old school and if you can’t get rid of the after shave “burning sensation”, you can use and alcohol aftershave.

9 PROTECT THE SKIN FROM THE SUN

After the shaving, the skin will probably be clearer and more delicate than the rest of the face and more sensible to sunlights. Get in the habit to protect it with a cream with a SPF.

10 THINK YOUR NEXT SHAVING

First shaving, after a long beard, can be harder because the skin will be driest and the hair more resistant. Don’t forget to hydrate the skin daily and to drink more water.
