OTHER 5 COMMON SHAVING MYTHS

Bullfrog shaving experience in terms of processes, tools and products to validate or dispel some of the most controversial clichés.

1) IS IT BETTER TO SHAVE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING?

FALSE!

Most men shave in the morning out of habit. Owever the best time of day to shave is during the afternoon or evening, as the facial skin si more supple and can be tautened more easily, allowing the blade to glide over the skin.

2) IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO SHAVE JUST AFTER SHOWERING?

TRUE!

The best time to shave is straight after showering. As barbers know, heat and humidity are the key elements allowing the pores to open, and releasing, stretching and softening the hairs. This is why barbers use hot cloths when preparing the skin for shaving.

3) IS IT TRUE THAT SHAVING AFTER LUNCH CAN CAUSE DIGESTION PROBLEMS?

FALSE!

It’s important to dispel this common myth, as shaving is an aesthetic action and as such has absolutely no effect on the metabolism.

4) IS USING AN ELECTRIC RAZOR ALWAYS BEST FOR THE SKIN?

IT DEPENDS!

An electric razor allows a quick and dry shave; it is particularly advisable for beards which are coarse and not sensitive. However electric razors are less precise and may irritate and redden the skin if shaved a second time.

5) SHOULD SHAVING HABITS CHANGE WHEN TRAVELLING?

TRUE!

When changing city, state or nation, the water used for shaving will contain different percentages of limestone, which affects the preparation phase of the skin and hairs. Plane journeys cause a lot of stress for the body in terms of hydration rate; therefore, when shaving after a long plane journey, the skin should be prepared and hydrated to a greater degree than usual.
